Looking at the stars made my husband believe in God. Great article. I have sometimes wondered how growing light pollution affected humanity's view of things over the centuries. I think you're onto something here.
Great article. I would posit that awe is a practiced skill. I see “miracles” to the exact degree that I actively seek them out. Life is indeed a trip!
I just got back from a yearly camp out gathering of sorts that many people get really geeked about. I enjoyed it, but it struck me that I’m not nearly as breathlessly excited about it because I experience wonder as much in my fluorescent-lit office as I do in the great outdoors. This is because I seek out the “wow factor” everywhere.
I was eating a pepper the other day, and the thought that this marvel was made out of dirt, air, and sunlight blew my tiny mind.
Stay simple, stay humble and start looking for it everywhere. It is everywhere!
I’m so glad I found your article reminding me of the power of awe. ❤️
So well put ... I felt this awe as a kid looking up at the night sky 🌌

Highly, HIGHLY recommend reading Clark Strand’s “Waking Up to the Dark.” It’s short, simple, and deeply profound.
